Usworth
    Cadets Grin and 'Bear It'
    Cadets
from 2214 (Usworth) Squadron Air Cadets made fur fly at Tunstall Fire Station
when they presented a 'Blaze Bear' to Leading Firefighter Joe Cummings. The
bears are used to calm traumatised children involved in fires or car accidents.
'Biggles', who was sponsored by the cadets, comes complete with full firekit
    including boots and helmet.
The cadets made Biggles special by kitting him out with flying goggles and
    scarf. An ATC
helmet badge and squadron ID number
were added. Finally Biggles was given
his 'wings' - to give him that final 'air' of
    authenticity.
The money paid for the bear goes to the
    Fire Services National Benevolent Fund.
Anyone can sponsor a bear -
so why not give the station a ring?

all the stations in the Brigade in all aspects of fire service work. See the
picture from the 'Sunderland Echo' taken in the drill yard at Tunstall. In fact
'Big Al' on the White Watch is still here! - and of course still totally
    efficient.
ps. Does anyone know where that bell went that's on the top
    of the machine?
